How Whitehaven SCC is Run

This page was last updated on Mon 18 Feb 08

Whitehaven unit, in common with all Sea Cadet units, is run by uniformed staff and a management committee who work together for the benefit of the cadets. There is a very close liaison between the two to the extent that there is an almost seamless crossover between them. The staff are represented on the management committee and members of the management committee can often be seen helping out with instruction. Our staff and committee are all CRB checked and everyone involved with TS BEE are volunteers, receiving no payment in return for their time and commitment to the Sea Cadets.

The Uniformed Staff mainly look after training and development of the cadets, discipline, social skills, etc. They are supported by a number of Civilian Instructors (CIs) who regularly attend the unit as well as other helpers who attend on an occasional basis.

The Unit Management Committee mainly look after the day-to-day matters of keeping the unit viable and deal with such things as insurance, finance, publicity, fundraising, etc.
