Whitehaven International Maritime Festival 2010

This page was last updated on Mon 28 Jun 10

Our apologies - it was a VERY busy weekend and we have not been able to update our Festival page yet. It's definitely on our 'to do' list so please call back in a day or two.

It was a fantastic start to the Festival weekend with bright sunshine and the appointment of Whitehaven's new Honorary Consul to the United States Navy. Mike Johnson, currently one of the Directors at Sellafield Ltd, is a former US Navy submarine commander - and also happens to be our President. We also had our first visitor of the weekend. Ronnie Heron first joined the unit when Jimmy Ryan was CO, back in the late 1950s and continued with the unit for many years. We were very pleased to welcome his aboard once again.

We then went along to the Katherine Jenkins concert, which cadets and staff were able to enjoy as the guests of the Festival Company and to whom we extend our most sincere thanks for a fantastic evening, which was rounded off by the first of the two Festival fireworks displays.
